POSITION TITLE: Business Development Intern

POSITION DESCRIPTION AND SPECIFICATIONS

Reports To: Business Development Coordinator
Position Back-Up: Business Development Coordinator 

Position Summary: Assists the Business Development Coordinator by performing administrative duties while gaining work experience, conducting market research, updating customer record management (CRM), and various sales activities.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Responsible for the observance and enforcement of CEMC safety rules, procedures, safety policies, and bulletins.

  2. Assists in qualifying leads by connecting with business members via outbound cold calls, email and by searching and creating target business lists.

  3. Participating in CEMC/Cumberland Connect events that increase brand awareness.

  4. Collecting and accurately recording business details in Lead Agent and CIS.

  5. Assists in creating sales reports that include qualified leads, opportunities, and

    activities/contacts goal metrics.

  6. Engage with Cumberland Connect and CEMC coworkers across departments to increase

    knowledge in areas related to job responsibilities.

  7. Performs other duties assigned to fulfill the company’s objectives and position.

Equipment Used:

Cooperative vehicle and personal computer

Software Used:

Microsoft Office Suite (including Outlook, Word, and Excel) and NISC (CIS, iVue Connect, and Lead Agent)

Education Degrees, Certificates, Licenses, and Training:

Required: High school diploma or equivalent. Valid Driver’s License

Preferred: Post-secondary courses in business, accounting, marketing, or any other relevant field.

Experience, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Required:

Proven ability to multi-task and plan/prioritize work to meet deadlines with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
Eagerness to take on responsibilities in a fast-paced, team-oriented business development and B2B sales environment.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Enthusiastic about helping educate prospects about Cumberland Connect services and offerings.
General knowledge of applicable software and equipment.
Strong analytical and critical thinking skills with demonstrated problem-solving abilities.
Effective communication skills and the ability to work as a team player.

Working Conditions:

Minimum of eight hours a day, five days a week.
Irregular working hours and pressure to meet various deadlines.
Works inside and outside, including working under inclement weather conditions. Frequently drives to multiple businesses and locations within the CEMC service area.
